Meet the Purple People Eaters

Micaela finished her first season of Y-Ball and really enjoyed it. They had the smallest team so each girl got lots of playing time and Micaela improved a lot. The games were so CHAOTIC but the Y staff did a fabulous job of making it a fun learning experience for the girls.

Before each game both teams met at center court for a 5 minute chat about one of the Y's focus characteristics: Responsibility, Respect, Caring and Honesty. They would always ask 1) what does that mean? and 2) what does that look like on the court? They began each game by passing out colored wrist bands so each player could easily find the girl she was supposed to defend. When a player double dribbled, or stepped out they stopped the game, gave a 10 second explanation of the rule and then started again right where they left off.
